Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out at info@twinehill.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

  • Driver's license, insurance for towing vehicle and signed rental agreement
  • Acceptable tow vehicle:  ½ ton chassis minimum, ¾ ton preferred; Class 3 hitch with 2 5/16” trailer ball, electronic brake controller, 7-way round RV style blade plug
  • Knowledge and experience towing a loaded horse trailer

  • That is entirely up to you! There is ample room for your tack, barn supplies and some feed.
  • We encourage the use of a hay bag to occupy your horse during transport.
  • Please do not store hay in the tack room.

  • Please ensure your towing vehicle meets the minimum requirements outlined.  In addition, it is vital that your vehicle be in a mechanically sound condition to ensure a safe towing experience, IE: safe tires, brakes and powertrain.  There are many checklists available out there to assist you in making a sound decision, we encourage you to find one that work for you and use it, we certainly do!

  • You need a minimum of a Class 3 hitch (most commonly installed type on full size trucks and SUV’s).  They have a 2” square receiver, and are capable of towing up to 10,000 lbs.  In addition, you need a 2 5/16th inch ball, set at an appropriate height.  We find that 18”-20” from the ground to ball top is ideal. We have a hitch and reducers available, if needed.

  • The “what if” that no one wants to experience….and yet, it happens!  It is important to first ensure that you are pulled off to a safe location, and if that is not possible calling 911 or your local emergency number is appropriate if you are blocking the road.  Often your roadside assistance coverage will provide towing services for your vehicle and the trailer you are towing.  Please check with your provider prior to rental to verify that coverage.  Call us!  If our schedule allows, we can certainly try and facilitate the completion of your horse transportation, or pickup the empty trailer if needed (additional fees apply).

  • Your rental agreement outlines your responsibilities as a renter.

  • Life happens, and we are flexible.  We ask for 48 hours notice of a cancellation for a full refund.  Inside the 48 hours, we offer a 50% refund on the rental period.

  • We have 7-foot tall slant load trailers with attached dividers. Horses over 16.2 may bump their heads on the ceiling, so extra tall, warmblood trailers are more appropriately sized. We do not have this size available currently, but keep checking our site for fleet additions.
  • If you have a draft-sized horse, the dividers may not latch closed, which is required for safe hauling. The width of the trailer stalls is 31.5".

  • Yes! We have added a stock trailer to our fleet that is suitable for hauling small cattle, donkeys, alpacas, minis, and other livestock. Please make sure to select trailer #251 when you are renting a trailer for hauling livestock.

  • Since we offer 24-hour rentals, each trailer's availability is determined by the previous rental period. Try adjusting your pickup time in the booking section. If you are not able to book the trailer, it is likely booked or unavailable due to maintenance.
